Pharmaceutics is a branch in Pharmaceutical sciences that deals with formulation of drug delivery systems, evaluation of those and development of robust manufacturing process. The department has been involved in teaching B.Pharm curriculum and imparting M.Pharm and Ph.D education. The faculty has gained expertise in development of conventional and novel drug delivery systems for transdermal, ocular, and intranasal applications.
The Department of Pharmacology was established in 1983 for undergraduate studies. Later, in 1992, the Department incorporated postgraduate courses as well. For its collaborative research programmes involving the studies related to screening of drugs / herbal extracts for anti-diabetic activity, cardiovascular activity, mutagenicity, anxiolytic, sedative, nootropic activities, the Department is tied up.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry was established in the year 1992. Since then, the Department has been actively involved in imparting a relevant knowledge base and technical skills in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry; offering engrossing research activities in the field of industrial research, development of eco-friendly and “green chemistry methodologies”, and fundamental academic research.
The infrastructure of the Department includes state-of-the-art laboratories with all the facilities for isolation, characterization and estimation of phyto-constitutents including HPTLC. The Department is also well equipped to carry out tissue culture studies.
