Academic Council and its Function

1 Principal
  1. The Principal shall preside at all the internal meetings of Faculty/Institute and shall ensure that various decisions of the authorities are implemented;
  2. He shall have the right to be present and to speak at the meeting of Academic Council for representing his faculty/ institute/ school/ college but shall have no right to vote there unless he is a member thereof;
    If a casual vacancy occurs in the office of the Faculty/ Institute/ School/ College, the senior most person of the Faculty / Institute / School/ College concerned shall perform the duties of the Principal/ Director/ Principal until a regular arrangement is made by the Senior Vice President
  3. The Principal/ Director/ Principal of the Faculty/ Institute/ School/ College has the following duties and powers:
    • He shall preside at all the meetings of the Board of Faculty and shall see that the various decisions of the Board of Faculty are implemented;
    • He shall be responsible for bringing the academic, financial, and other needs of the faculty to the notice of the Senior Vice President
    • He shall take necessary measures for proper custody and maintenance of libraries, laboratories and all other assets of the departments comprised in the faculty/ institute/ school/ college.
2 Vice Principal
  1. Administrative leadership: Assist the principal in providing strategic direction and leadership for the school or department, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission, vision, and goals.
  2. Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the principal and collaborate with other administrators to manage day-to-day operations effectively
  3. Monitor curriculum delivery to ensure alignment with academic standards, student needs, and educational best practices
  4. Student support services.
3 Heads of Departments (HoD)
  1. Review of College–academic programs, academic activities, research activities, student’s activities, resources- physical, laboratory, faculty, library and related issues.
4 Professors
  1. Teaching
  2. Investigative pursuits, securing research funding, and providing research mentorship
  3. Advisory offerings
  4. Engaging with industrial and societal stakeholders
  5. Supporting developmental initiatives at the department and institutional levels
  6. Publishing research findings
  7. Fulfilling additional responsibilities as designated by the reporting superior, etc.
5 Associate Professor
  1. Teaching including laboratory work.
  2. Offering consultancy expertise
  3. Contributing to developmental initiatives at both departmental and institutional tiers.
  4. Conducting student counseling and fostering interaction.
  5. Contributing to academic and administrative planning and development within the department.
  6. Evaluating student performance and assessment.
  7. Supporting consultancy and research and development endeavors
  8. Publishing research findings.
  9. Fulfilling additional responsibilities as delegated by the reporting authority, etc.
6 Assistant Professor
  1. Facilitating educational instruction
  2. Conducting laboratory instruction sessions.
  3. Evaluating student performance.
  4. Providing support for consultancy and research and development services
  5. Creating educational resources and enhancing laboratory facilities
  6. Coordinating co-curricular and extra-curricular initiatives
  7. Contributing to departmental administrative tasks
